1.Photograph obverse, reverse, edge, holder, labels, and any original envelope or album.
2.Record country, denomination, date, mintmark, metal, weight, diameter, and orientation.
3.Attribute the exact type or variety using authoritative references and certified examples.
4.Separate grade, strike, surface quality, problems, certification, and provenance before comparing value.
